I started the week with florid antique romance and end it now with the opposite: Modern style classic furniture that works well in our northern climate. A sofa with straight, clean lines can look amazing in a living room with antique details. It is the contrast that gives a room personality and makes it come alive.
Inspiration: Modern living
I have noticed a great interest in Scandinavian design abroad and Swedish real estate agents have received a major boost in recent years. Beautiful Nordic home-styled homes are popular in various foreign blogs and it makes me proud to be Swedish :)
It is precisely this clean style which appeals to for example Americans, whom typically have a completely different interior decor style. I myself have a Kivik divan sofa at home which gives a true lounge feel. I really enjoy the clean, straight lines.
What do you think of contemporary decor?
Have a great weekend!

Love that picture of the bedroom.
Growing up, I’ve always wished to be living in a home with a fireplace. With the weather here, I don’t think it’ll ever be possible. So I hope 1 day, my wish will happen =)
Love this modern livings!!!

I love this style!
I love the mixture of modern and antique. You’re so right. Swedish style is becoming very popular around here.
Very inviting interiors…I like the raised fireplaces.

Nice livingrooms!!!
Have a lovely new week!!!
Dimi…
I like looking at those photos but also know that I wouldn’t want to live in a ‘modern’ home – too tidy and empty for me!
Thanks so much for your sweet words, they made my day!
Have a great one today,

Hi Maria, Thanks so much for popping by and for your lovely comment. Your blog is so pretty – the first word that came to my mind was “aahhhh” – it has such a light, relaxing vibe. I like to mix a little bit of the clean lines of contemporary with some older pieces that have patina and personality. Getting the right mix can be tough, but it I love spaces that look original and unique. I live in a Northern climate, too, (There are lots of Swedes here in Seattle!) and love anything that helps a room feel filled with light -especially in the dark days of winter. Looking forward to seeing more from you!
