I got such a good response to my last post about lighting so I will continue to spread the light of inspiration and give some tips below for the right light in the right place…
1. Dimmers provide the right atmosphere
My first piece of advice is to dim as much as you can at home. Having strong irritating lights everywhere can be very tiring for the eyes in the long run. With the right dimmer switch on your lights, you can give a room the correct bright feeling without being too dark.
2. Light around the bathroom mirror makes you look better
When it comes to light in the bathroom, dimmers are again a good tip. Sometimes you want to have some cosiness while at other times need really strong lighting for applying make-up or for cleaning. Having light that surrounds the mirror is very flattering and gives you a natural photoshop :)
3. Light along the floor
It is becoming increasingly popular to put strip lighting along the bottom of the walls. In hallways and large rooms it can be an especially effective type of lighting. It is not only modern and stylish but also very handy for avoiding walking into the walls after dark.
4. Lighting behind the TV
It is quite tiring for the eyes to watch TV. The brightness and contrast changes in strength all the time. An easy way to make the contrast softer to the eye is to have a light source behind the TV – it also looks good.
5. Illuminate your home’s highlights
In a home where there is a special ornament or particularly beautiful painting, it is obvious that this should have its own lighting. It not only highlights the ornament, but also gives the home a lot of extra character to boot. Here, spotlights are unbeatable and ljusinspiration.se has a good assortment for any room.
6. Reading light in the bedroom
When reading, the eyes work a lot, and there are many of us who like to read in bed for a while before bedtime. Each person in the bedroom should have their own reading lamp that can be aimed in the right direction. It is good if it has a shade so that you don’t interfere with someone else’s beauty sleep :)
7. Lights in windows prevents people looking in
If you live in a house or a low apartment you may have problems with people looking in. By having lights in the windows you can make it much more difficult to see in to a room as the light is reflected in the glass – plus it looks very homey.

I must admit that I have a new obsession to add to my pillow obsession …. namely lamps :) Highlighting correctly is like making magic with a magic wand and gives a dark room an extreme makeover.
All lovely new lamps on the images above come from ljusinspiration.se Surfing on their website is dangerous for every true lamp-addict like me, as the selection of amazing lamps is gigantic :) Check especially their range of floor lamps. A big favorite is floor lamp ‘Captain’. It spreads spot light ala Hollywood over an otherwise boring living room :)
I hope you have become enlightened :) and want to shed more light on the darkness of winter.
