The weather in Sweden this Summer has been far from warm, unfortunately. That’s why I feel it’s high time for a little travel inspiration to dream away with.
Hold on tight ladies and gentlemen, let’s go to one of the Earth’s last great paradises… the Maldives.
The Maldives
The best time to visit the Maldives is between December and April, as it is sunny and almost never rains. There are however very many tourists during high season.
Getting around
Speedboats go betwene the islands and cost 500 – 1000 Swedish crowns. Some islands are more easily accessible by sea-plane. These trips can cost up to 2000 – 3500 crowns per person return.
Food in the Maldives
All food and drink is flown to the islands, which explains the high prices. The national dish of the Maldiverna is curry with ris and vegetables, which is a little boring if you ask me :)
To do
All resorts have dive boats and organize daily excursions if you want to explore deeper waters and coral reefs. A dive here is just a MUST and a true memory for life and often only fifteen minutes away.
NOTE
You hae to keep in mind that not all the islands are accessible to tourists. Some islands require special permission, which you can apply for on the spot, but you’ll often get turned down. The government would prefer that tourists stick to the tourist resorts.
Markets in Male
If you have an hour or so to kill, check out the markets in the capital Male, just 10 minutes by boat from the airport.
Hope you enjoyed these hot holiday tips! :)
Have you been in the Maldives? What can you recommend?
Have a great day! :)
