Located in Sintra, Castelo dos Mouros dates back to the VIII century and is one of Sintra´s main historic attractions. The Castle was held by the Moors until 1147 when the first king of Portugal, D. Quinta da Regaleira
The construction of this historical site dates back to the late 17th century. It is located in the historical center of Sintra and it is famous for its gothic architecture. It is comprised of a chapel, a network tunnels connecting different areas of the property, and a well that stretches for 27 meters along which you have a spiral stairway.
Initiation Well – Quinta da Regaleira
The well was used by the Freemasonry and the Knights templars for initiation rituals. Upon visiting the site, I can say it is filled with mysticism and a dark atmosphere surrounding it, reminding me of Horror Movies. If you want to read some more about this exciting place you can do that HERE
