Hej jag heter Maria och jag är beroende…….av kuddar :) Jag kan inte gå in i en möbelaffär utan att ha ögnat igenom minsta lilla prydnadskudde i alla soffor och hyllor som finns. Problemet är att det finns alldeles för många kuddar att välja på och på tok för många läckra nyanser av rosa.
För ett tag sedan skulle jag sy en ny rosa sidenkudde till soffan och våndan inför färgvalet var svår. Jag gick fram och tillbaka till tygaffären och bad den tåliga expediten om otaliga tygprover. Till slut hade jag tillräckligt många tyg prover att jag kunde sy en kudde av bara dem :)
Den här besattheten av kuddar anser jag vara ett typiskt feminint fenomen (all jämlikhet till trots). Nämn en man som någonsin kommer förstå vitsen av något som bara tar upp extra plats i soffan och gömmer TV-kontrollen :)
How to make decorative cushions
Hi. My name is Maria, and I am addicted to…cushions :) I can’t go into a furniture store without having checked out all of the decorative cushions on all of the sofas and shelves. The problem is that there are far too many cushions to choose from and way too many beautiful shades of pink.
A while ago I was thinking of sewing a new pink silk cushion for the sofa but choosing the exact right colour was hard. I went to and from the fabric shop and asked the patient shop assistant time and again for fabric samples. In the end I had enough samples that I could’ve sewn a whole cushion with them! :)
This addiction to cushions is I believe a typical feminine phenomena (despite gender equality). Show me a man that will ever understand the point in something that takes up extra space in the sofa and hides the TV remote control :)

Till alla er kudd-beroende följer nedan en beskrivning hur man syr en egen liten läcker prydnadskudde…enjoy :)
Vilket material din kudde ska ha är helt beroende på vart den ska användas och hur. Tvättbara tyger som är behandlade är kanon för utomhusbruk, vissa tyger kräver kemtvätt.
Min nya favorit kudde är den som har olika tyger på varje sida, då kan man vända den när man tröttnar på det ena tyget.
Så här syr du en kudde 50×50:
- Klipp till fyrkanter i det tyg(tyger) du valt 52x52cm.
- Lägg 2 stycken fyrkanter med rättan mot varandra, sy runt med 1cm sömsmån – lämna en öppning för innerkudden. Eller sy i ett blixtlås först och sy sen runt. Att sy i blixtlåset först brukar jag göra då det är lättare, men det är en smaksak.
- Stoppa i innerkudden, gärna fylld av dun så att den blir fyllig och mjuk.
VOILA… ett nytt litet mästerverk att förgylla en trist soffa med har sett dagen :)
To all of you cushion-addicts out there, this is how you sew your own hot decorative cushion…enjoy! :)
The material you use should depend upon where your cushion will be used and how. Washable fabrics are great for outdoor use – certain fabrics must be dry cleaned.
My new favourite cushion is one that has different fabrics on either side. You can turn it around if you get tired of one of them.
How to make a decorative cushion 50×50:
- Cut squares in the fabric(s) of your choice at 52x52cm.
- Lay 2 corners together and sew around with a 1cm seam – leave an opening for the cushion filling. Or, sew in a zip first, and then sew around.
- Put in the cushion filling – preferably made of down so that it is fluffy and soft.
VOILA… a new little masterpiece to brighten up a boring sofa is born :)

Agree Maria, my brothers don’t understand these cushion pillows too. But my mom and I love them. It is very difficult to choose with so many out there in the market.
