Dream Away: New Zealand

Guest post: Jon, at inredningsvis.se

I have the honour today of giving you all a sample of my home country, New Zealand. I’ve been living in Scandinavia for 10 years now and only been back in NZ once since I moved here. It might be time for a trip back soon, as home-sickness is pretty strong right now at the end of Winter. It is of course Summer in New Zealand right now, with temperatures around 25C – 30C. Hope you like the pictures :)

Those pics are stunning and those views are certainly very picturesque.
And I have heard only good news about New Zealand and its people.

    • Jon Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 11:21 #

Yes, the funny thing is that we grow up thinking the rest of the world is the same. It’s only when we leave that we realise how lucky we are down there!

Beautiful post Jon! I can see why you miss it and the Swedish winters aren’t that great actually, too long. Hope you have a time to visit New Zeeland soon again!

Your homecountry is so wonderful. Recently I finished a book about New Zealand (in German: “Was scheren mich die Schafe”) and your photos confirm me in my meaning. I could imagine that it´s not so easy for you to live so far away from home since such a long time and in a such cold region …

Hope you can it make possible for yourself to go to New Zealand very soon.

    xx

    • Jon Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 11:33 #

Thanks, Rena. My German isn’t great, but I believe your book was something about sheep shearing?

Well, in the early 1980s there were around 70 million sheep in NZ, now it’s about half that number (no idea why – probably rural to urban population drift or something).

But anyway, yes, I am thinking about going back around December/January/February sometime to get the most out of the Summer :)

  15. Pia Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 06:27 #

Amazing photos! We are planning to visit NZ this Christmas!! And these photos just confirm that we are making the right decision!!! Thanks for sharing!

    • Jon Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 11:34 #

Great, Pia! Where exactly are you going to be travelling to in NZ?
