Invites me to be creative and go wild with colors :)

Decor crush of the day

It’s time again for the decor crush of the day, and this time it’s a big one on a charming old apartment in Malmö. There’s something about the history and atmosphere in old buildings that new ones just don’t have. In this home there is a perfect mix of decorations that bring out the apartment’s own unique beauty. Fine details in a home are so important, and here you can see them from their best angles. Wonderful pink silk meets black wooden floors, and just look at the grandiose wall filled with picture frames. My biggest crush however is the old black fireplace. Just imagine having sitting there in the Autumn with an open fire and a good book… mmm lovely :)

A real dream home with lovely big rooms allows space for play, parties and companionship. Old style in the bathroom and a wonderful chequered dream floor makes my heart skip a beat. Add an arty room where the creative juices can flow freely and my decor dream is complete :)

Do you like old style buildings?

Have a great weekend!

Guest inspiration: Sofia from AsWeTravel.com

Guest Post: Sofia – Co-founder of As We Travel – a popular blog for everything related to travel.

as-we-travel-300x213 I’ve been traveling the world together with my boyfriend almost constantly for the past 4 years, and from my travels I’ve realized just how much our culture shapes the way we design our homes.

Every country has its own beautiful and unique designs, and as I’m planning to finally settle down and find myself a home, I dream of bringing the many inspirations from countries all over the world into my new home.

There are always a few good things you can take from every culture and every country – here are some of my favorites…

Lanterns From Morocco

Nothing sets the mood and vibe of a room as much as the lighting – lighting is everything for a room, whether it’s an office or a lounge.

For a cozy atmosphere, Moroccan lanterns are your best friend – the patterns on these hand made lanterns create beautiful shadows on the walls, and they have that oriental exotic style making it look just magical.

Silk From Thailand

The beautiful colors and diversity of Thai silk makes it possible to use them for almost anything; duvet covers, pillows, curtains etc …

Tile Murals From Portugal

The houses lining the narrow, steep streets of Lisbon and Porto are covered in beautiful tiles that would be perfect for a kitchen and bathroom.

Artwork From Bali

Bali is an art lovers heaven, with every small village specializing in their own niche, from mosaics and wood carvings, to stone sculpture, mask making and painting.

The art skills are taught from father to son throughout the generations, and the art is unlike anything else – balinese art is beautiful to look at and tell some fascinating stories.

Tea Sets From Turkey

What I loved most about Turkey was the cozy cafes where you sit for hours sipping on a glass of tea surrounded by people smoking water-pipes.

The tea was always served in beautiful tea sets, and I quickly decided that I’d go back there to buy one once I had settled down somewhere.

Flower Decorations From Germany

Walking along the cobbled streets of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, the beautiful frescoe paintings and the cozy alpine cottages really make you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy tale.

However, it’s their love for flowers that got me inspired – every window on every house is adorned with overflowing flower-boxes in red, pink and yellow flowers.

Modern Designs From Finland

I was not at all surprised to find out that Helsinki was named World Design Capital 2012 – it truly is a design city at heart.

Finnish designers are masters at twisting the traditional into something new and fascinating, always with a playful angle.

From the bright, bold and simplistic Marimekko prints and the soft “less is more” glass designs from iittala, to the Rock Church in Helsinki, they know how to make something look amazing and still be very functional.

Inredningstips: accentfärger gör skillnad

prydnadsuddar

two little colourful pillows..BIG difference :)

paslakan

cykelkorg

jordgubbar

MMM yummy accent colours :)

badkar med tassar

CHANEL makes life full of accent colours :)

badrumsinredning

Some new colourful towels make any bathroom look more stylish :)

Décor advice: Accent colours make a difference

What would life be without accent colours? Those small dollops of colour in a sea of beige make all the difference. It could be some new pink cushions in an otherwise white room or a colourful umbrella in a grey sea of people. In the world of décor, colour is everything.

However, a room full of colour is too much, which is why accent colours are the simplest alternative. The best thing about accent colours is that you can quickly and easily change a room with just a small colourful detail. In my case as a cushion-aholic, new decorative cushions are a must for change :) Buying some new and hot colourful sofa cushions on a grey Autumn day is a true luxury which makes life that little bit brighter.

Which décor details turn you on???

Prydnadskuddar by nord

Nature is a force that not only can be humbling to meet when unprepared, but also has the ability to evoke strong feelings when one is confronted by breathtaking scenery and sudden appearances by the animals and humans able to live in the wild.

tygväska varg by nord

Back to nature and I love it.

Decorative cushions by nord

By Nord has an absolutely wonderful line of decorative cushions, duvets and the like with motifs taken directly from the forests. The concept is that people have always been a part of nature, and need to find their way back there by taking a break from the stressful pace of the big city. The source of inspiration for this collection is gleaned from the deepest forests in Sweden and Finland. Iceland and Greenland also have a big influence in this natural collection. My personal favourite is the decorative cushion with wild horses – it’s almost supernaturally beautiful :)

Back to nature, and I love it.
