Guestpost: Coffee table books – the perfect gift at Christmas

Hello dear readers!

I´m delighted to be guest writing at one of my favourite blogs, inredningsvis.se

I’m Caroline from the lifestyle blog www.inner-outerbeauty.com focusing on the whole beauty in life for a happy and fulfilled life.

Since it’s the season and Christmas is about giving, I thought we could talk books. Great glamorous books that is. My personal favourite for a stylish Christmas gift to almost anyone, is a classic coffee table book. You simply can´t go wrong. Here are my best picks for this Christmas:

Nate Berkus

You can´t go wrong with Nate, he is just such an amazing person with a lot of style. This book is recently released and has already gotten a lot of praise.

Grace

I´ve always been fascinated by the staff at Conde Nast and especially VOGUE. Grace Coddington did her first day at work together with another newcomer, Anna Wintour. The rest is history. Grace Coddington is a creative genius, and is said to have a good hand with Mrs Wintour…

Steven Gambrel

This is a book full of beautiful interiors and many ideas for creating a lovely home.

Vogue Living

This is probably my favourite of all coffe table books. I treasure it and read it with soo much pleasure. Every home or garden is from a celebrity, like Tory Burch Manhattan apartment to a famous weekend retreat in the Hamptons or Madonnas glamorous rural life in England. If you haven´t got this little gem already, get it, or make a wish for Christmas, you won´t regret it.

The Hamptons

Nobody knows the Hamptons better than Ricky Lauren, wife of fashion designer Ralph Lauren. Her book is a tribute to food, family and history of the ever fascinating place called The Hamptons.

Guest inspiration: En färggrann lägenhet i Amsterdam

lagenhet amsterdam 1

Hej!

Guest Inspiration: A colourful Amsterdam apartment

Hi Everyone! My name is Daniel and I am the founder and editor at letmebeinspired.com – a blog with daily inspiration when it comes to interior design and architecture. It is with great pleasure to write a guest post here at inredningsvis.se – Hope you will enjoy it!

I spend a couple of hours every day to search for beautiful houses, apartments, hotels etc that inspires me when it comes to interior design and architecture. And here is one apartment that is located in Amsterdam that I just love. I love stylish and bright apartments with colorful details.

What is the most distinguishes about this apartment is the wonderful yellow color in the kitchen. The strong color makes the kitchen more alive and in my opinion also a more fun place to cook in. The apartment has no regular doors, here they have sliding doors which makes the apartment more spacious and stylish.

Between the living room and the dining area there is a natural open plan. The wonderful rug in the living room is from Vitra and the coffee table is from Ikea.

In the bedroom there is a bold red cupboards that provides plenty of storage and a colorful room.

Cheers!

Daniel

Guest inspiration: Lazy Days of Summer

Relaxing and sitting on the Muskoka chair on the dock, looking at the view of Lake Rousseau.

Hi I am Pamela, the Publisher of the Blog,  The Style and Travel Journals. I am grateful to Maria for this collaboration of Guest Posting in her Inspirational blog.

Summer is almost ending.  I was in the Muskoka Lake District the past weekend to have  a vacation, to go swimming and just relaxing. The Muskoka Lake District is north of Toronto, Canada. The Muskokas is composed of the Lake Muskoka, Lake Rousseau and Lake Joseph. There are numerous smaller lakes surrounding this area.

In these Lakes are traditional Canadian cottages and there are multi-million dollar cottages with their large boathouses. The picture above with the dock and traditional Muskoka chairs is a perfect place to relax, to daydream and just enjoy the view.

When I was in Muskoka, I just felt to slow down, to relax, enjoy the water and most of the time just fell asleep.  I love going here in Muskoka during summer.  It is a perfect place to hangout for a lazy day in summer. Where do you go and what do you do to enjoy a lazy day in summer?

Pablo Picasso’s painting “The Bathers” painted in 1918 is a perfect picture to describe a lazy day of summer.

Bathers hanging out in Lake Muskoka.

Decorative pillow and rug which are perfect to decorate in a relaxing sofa or bedroom. Pillow and Rug from Muskoka Living Store.

Relax in the Chaise Lounge with a book and a cool drink plus enjoy the Lake view.

Enjoy the rest of summer!

Guest inspiration: Sofia from AsWeTravel.com

Guest Post: Sofia – Co-founder of As We Travel – a popular blog for everything related to travel.

as-we-travel-300x213 I’ve been traveling the world together with my boyfriend almost constantly for the past 4 years, and from my travels I’ve realized just how much our culture shapes the way we design our homes.

Every country has its own beautiful and unique designs, and as I’m planning to finally settle down and find myself a home, I dream of bringing the many inspirations from countries all over the world into my new home.

There are always a few good things you can take from every culture and every country – here are some of my favorites…

Lanterns From Morocco

Nothing sets the mood and vibe of a room as much as the lighting – lighting is everything for a room, whether it’s an office or a lounge.

For a cozy atmosphere, Moroccan lanterns are your best friend – the patterns on these hand made lanterns create beautiful shadows on the walls, and they have that oriental exotic style making it look just magical.

morocco

Silk From Thailand

The beautiful colors and diversity of Thai silk makes it possible to use them for almost anything; duvet covers, pillows, curtains etc …

thailand

Tile Murals From Portugal

The houses lining the narrow, steep streets of Lisbon and Porto are covered in beautiful tiles that would be perfect for a kitchen and bathroom.

Artwork From Bali

Bali is an art lovers heaven, with every small village specializing in their own niche, from mosaics and wood carvings, to stone sculpture, mask making and painting.

The art skills are taught from father to son throughout the generations, and the art is unlike anything else – balinese art is beautiful to look at and tell some fascinating stories.

Tea Sets From Turkey

What I loved most about Turkey was the cozy cafes where you sit for hours sipping on a glass of tea surrounded by people smoking water-pipes.

The tea was always served in beautiful tea sets, and I quickly decided that I’d go back there to buy one once I had settled down somewhere.

Flower Decorations From Germany

Walking along the cobbled streets of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, the beautiful frescoe paintings and the cozy alpine cottages really make you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy tale.

However, it’s their love for flowers that got me inspired – every window on every house is adorned with overflowing flower-boxes in red, pink and yellow flowers.

Modern Designs From Finland

I was not at all surprised to find out that Helsinki was named World Design Capital 2012 – it truly is a design city at heart.

Finnish designers are masters at twisting the traditional into something new and fascinating, always with a playful angle.

From the bright, bold and simplistic Marimekko prints and the soft “less is more” glass designs from iittala, to the Rock Church in Helsinki, they know how to make something look amazing and still be very functional.

Which countries inspire you when it comes to designing your perfect home?
